Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
Due to ongoing and rapidly changing recommendations from our national and local health department authorities, we will be taking the following steps to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and ensure the current and future safety of our patients, employees, and family members.
Telemedicine Sick Visits
Our staff is working hard to respond to this continuously changing situation. Accordingly, we are implementing telemedicine and telephone visits for children visits to minimize your exposure. This means you will have a video visit with Dr. Choi that can be conducted on your computer or smart phone.
How to schedule a telemedicine visit:
- Call our office main number 301-984-9490 and our staff will schedule your telemedicine visit. Our phone lines are open at 8am every morning.
- Our staff will send you a confirmation email with a link and passcode: 9490
- Review the Telemedicine Consent Form.
- At the time of your appointment, go to the link: https://doxy.me/drjohnchoi.
- At the Welcome sign-in, please enter CHILD’S NAME AND DATE OF BIRTH instead of your name (ex: Daisy Smith 01/01/2020)
- Please be ready for your visit at least 10 minutes before your scheduled call and be in a quiet, well-lighted space.
The costs for telemedicine services will be billed to your health insurance plan, and most major health insurance carriers will waive all copayments and coinsurance costs associated with these visits during this time of crisis. While as parents and guardians, you retain financial responsibility for any uncovered costs, our office also understands that we are in difficult times and will do our best to accommodate family personal financial situations. If there are any difficulties in paying any uncovered charges, please do not hesitate to reach out to our billing office.
Our office safety precautions
To ensure you and your child’s safety and limit any potential spread to the community we will take the following precautions: telemedicine visits, all staff and providers with direct patient care contact will be wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE) at every appointment including face masks, gloves, and gowns, and your exam room will be disinfected with a hospital grade anti-bacterial wipe before your appointment.
Coronavirus (COVID-19 Testing)
Due to shortages/high demand in areas of urgent need, we currently do not have access in our office to Coronavirus (COVID-19) testing. But please contact our office if your child is sick or experiencing any symptoms, or if you have any questions, and we will advise you on the next steps.
We will continue to schedule well-child check-ups to administer vaccines and monitor the health of our youngest patients. Please limit visitors at check-ups to only the patient and parents (preferably only one parent if outside of the newborn age). Please do not bring siblings, nannies, grandparents, etc.
If you child is scheduled for a well-child visit, please notify us as soon as possible if any person coming to the check-up (parent or child) has any of the following so we can reschedule your appointment:
- cough or recent fever
- exposure to anyone at your home with a fever
- known direct exposure in the last 14 days to anyone who tested positive for COVID-19.
